Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan) narrates the story of himself and his friends, Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Ranchoddas "Rancho" Shamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan), students at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. Farhan wants to become a wildlife photographer, but is pursuing an engineering degree to fulfill his father's wish, whereas Raju needs to improve his family's financial situation, and Rancho studies for the pleasure of building machines. Rancho incurs the wrath of college's dean, Professor Viru Sahastrabuddhe a.k.a. 'Virus' (Boman Irani), by giving creative and unorthodox answers in class and living by the philosophy that one should pursue excellence not success as success will happen if excellence is achieved, and later blames the rote-learning mentality of the institution for the suicide of fellow student Joy Lobo. Virus's model student is Chatur Ramalingam, called "Silencer" for his silent but malodorous farts, (Omi Vaidya), whom Rancho humiliates by replacing praise with an obscenity in the speech memorized by Chatur for delivery before the college faculty and donors. Meanwhile, Rancho falls in love with Pia, in reply, tells Rancho of the exam, and he and Farhan steal the examination's questions for Raju who refuses to cheat as he has fully embraced Rancho view on life. Virus sentences them to expulsion; but then Pia angrily tells him he was possible for the death of their brother who had wanted to pursue literature and become a writer however under Virus is insistence he failed the ICE exam three times and committed suicide due to the pressure placed on him by his father who had considered his death an accident. The three then earn a reprieve when Viru's pregnant elder daughter Mona (Mona Singh) goes into labour at the same time. A heavy storm cuts electricity, and Pia who had left the house instructs Rancho to deliver the baby in the college common room via Voice over IP, after Rancho restores power using car batteries and a power inverter invented by Rancho. After the baby is apparently stillborn, Rancho resuscitates it by using his signature quote All is Well to which the baby responds and survives; therefore Virus allows them to take and pass their final exams. Rancho comes first and is awarded Virus's prize pen, retained hitherto for an especially-capable student.

Raju and Farhan then take Pia who was on the verge of marrying Suhas to Ladakh, where they see inventions resembling those of their friend. They reunite with him and when they ask him his real name, he identifies himself as Phunsukh Wangdu, Chatur's prospective business partner. Upon learning this, Chatur is horrified and begs Phunsukh to establish the business relationship as he had forced him to sign a declaration of defeat and attempted to humiliate him, apparently to no effect.

Raj Malhotra (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran Singh (Kajol) are two NRIs living in London. Although both value their Indian roots, they have experienced different parenting styles. Simran has been raised by her conservative father Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri) while Raj's father (Anupam Kher) is very liberal.
Simran has always dreamt of meeting a perfect boy who is the one for her. Her mother Lajjo (Farida Jalal) warns her against this, saying dreams are good but one should not blindly believe that dreams come true. Her father Baldev soon receives a letter from his friend Ajit (Satish Shah) who lives in Punjab. Ajit wants to keep a promise he and Baldev made to each other 20 years ago — to have Simran marry his son Kuljeet (Parmeet Sethi). Simran is disappointed by this news — she does not want to marry somebody whom she has never met before. Meanwhile, Raj has failed his degree which strangely makes his father proud of him as no one in the past generation of their family has ever passed. Raj asks his father if he can go on a train trip with his friends around Europe. His father agrees. Later, Raj enters Baldev's shop after closing time. Baldev refuses to sell him anything until Raj fakes a strong headache using it as a pretense to get the shop open and buy beer. When Baldev refuses, Raj grabs a case of beer, runs off, and throws the money on the counter. This infuriates Baldev; he calls Raj a disgrace to India. Simran is also invited by her friends to go on the train trip. Simran tells her father that she thinks she should be allowed to go because it will be her last chance to see the world before she marries a complete stranger. Baldev lets her go but tells her not to betray his trust.
On the trip, Raj and Simran meet. Raj constantly flirts with Simran, much to her irritation. Then, the two miss their train to Zurich and are separated from their friends. They start to travel with one another to catch back up and become friends in the process. Raj falls in love with Simran on the journey and when they both part ways back in London, Simran realises that she is in love with him too. Simran tells her mother about the boy she met — Baldev overhears the conversation and becomes furious with her. He says that the family will move to India the next day. Meanwhile, Raj tells his father about Simran and that she is getting married soon. When Raj says he believes Simran loves him too, his father encourages him to go after her. Raj arrives at her house in London, only to find that she has already left for India. She left a souvenir they had bought together on their trip on her front porch, which encourages Raj to keep chasing her.
In India, Baldev is delighted to be reunited with his friend Ajit and all his relatives. Simran and her younger sister, Chutki, meet Kuljeet, Simran's fiance, and instantly dislike him due to his arrogance. Simran still cannot forget Raj and is miserable about having to marry Kuljeet. Her mother tells her to forget Raj because she knows that Baldev will never accept it. The next morning, Simran hears a familiar sound and runs out to the fields to find Raj there. She begs him to take her and run away because she knows her father will never let them be together. Raj refuses and says he will only marry Simran with her father's consent. Raj befriends Kuljeet and quickly gets accepted by both families and builds a good rapport with them. Soon Raj's father arrives in India and also becomes good friends with everyone. Eventually Lajjo and Chutki realise that Raj is the boy Simran fell in love with in Europe. Lajjo tells Raj and Simran to run away, but Raj still refuses. Baldev finally accepts Raj, until he discovers a photograph of Raj and Simran in Europe, and realises that Raj is the boy Simran had told them about. He openly insults Raj, telling him to leave.
Raj and his father are waiting at the station when Kuljeet and his friends arrive and attack them. Eventually Baldev and Ajit arrive and stop the fight. Raj boards the departing train with his father. Simran soon arrives with her mother and sister. She tries to join Raj on the train but Baldev stops her. Simran begs him to let her go, saying she cannot live without Raj. Baldev thinks and realises that nobody can love his daughter more than Raj does. He lets her go, and she runs to catch the train as it takes off. Eventually she does catch the train, and they all shout joys of happiness in the end.

Yashvardhan "Yash" Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) is a rich businessman, living in India with his wife Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) and two sons Rahul and Rohan. Rahul is the elder son and was adopted by Yash and Nandini when he was first born. At the age of eight, he learns of this and as a result feels obliged to them. This truth is known to everyone in the Raichand household, except Rohan.
Years later, a grown-up Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) comes across the vivacious Punjabi-speaking Anjali Sharma (Kajol). The two become friends and eventually fall in love. However, their love is forbidden, because Anjali is from a working-class background. Yash and Nandini soon send Rohan off to a Boarding School, somewhere all the males in their family have attended. Yash announces his desire for Rahul to marry Naina (Rani Mukherji), the daughter of his closest friend. Naina learns however that Rahul is in love with Anjali, and encourages him to follow his heart. When Yash comes to know of Rahul's love for Anjali, he is enraged and hurt. Rahul promises his father that he will not marry Anjali. When he goes to tell her that he cannot marry her, he is shocked to discover that her father (Alok Nath) has died. Unable to see the woman he loves in pain, he decides to marry her despite his father's hostility. Yash learns of the marriage and is furious. He disowns Rahul, saying he no longer considers him his son. Nandini and Rahul share a tearful goodbye. Nandini sends Sayeeda (Farida Jalal), Rahul and Rohan's nanny, to watch over her son so that he will never feel apart from a mother's love. Rahul visits Rohan in the Boarding School and tells him that he is leaving home forever. He begs Rohan to never ask where he went or why he left and also asks that he take care of Nandini.
Ten years later, Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) returns home from the Boarding School. He learns from his grandmothers (Achala Sachdev and Sushma Seth) that Rahul was adopted, and the reason why Rahul left the house. Rohan vows to reunite the family. He travels to Chandini Chowk, where Anjali used to live and learns that Rahul, Anjali, and her younger sister Pooja moved to London. He tells his parents that he wishes to do some further studies in London; his parents agree to let him go. In London, Rahul is now a wealthy businessman. He and Anjali now have their own son, Krish. Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) now a popular fashion-obsessed diva, is a student at King's College London. Rohan enrolls there too. He and Pooja meet again and he tells her that he has come to London to bring his brother and sister-in-law back home. Pooja tells Rahul that Rohan is her friend's brother who currently has nowhere to stay. After some persuasion, Rahul agrees to let Rohan stay. Rohan constantly drops the family hints as to who he is. At Krish's school function he leads his class in singing the Indian National Anthem. Later, Krish recites advice which Rohan had given him. Rahul had given Rohan this advice ten years back, so he now realises that he has been reunited with his brother all this time.
Rohan begs Rahul to come back home, but he refuses as he believes his father will never accept him. Pooja convinces Rohan to invite his parents to London and have them meet Rahul, hoping this will encourage them to patch things up. Rahul and Nandini are overjoyed to see one another, however Rahul still refuses to talk to his father. Yash learns about Rohan's true intentions and is livid. Soon, Yash receives a phone call and learns that his mother is on her death bed; her last wish being for Yash, Rahul and Rohan to light her funeral pyre together. Although Yash does not want this, all the family attend the funeral together. Nandini now plucks up the courage to tell Yash that she thought he was wrong for disowning Rahul, whom he had brought up with so much love. Rohan and Pooja now talk to Rahul and convince him to talk to Yash. Yash now acknowledges his mistake and shares tearful greetings to Rahul and allows him and Anjali to come back to the house. With the family reunited, Rohan and Pooja get married and the family also have a belated celebration of Rahul and Anjali's wedding.

In the small village of Ramgarh, the retired policeman Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) summons a pair of small-time thieves that he had once arrested. Thakur feels that the duo—Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan)—would be ideal to help him capture Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan), a dacoit wanted by the authorities for a  50,000 reward. Thakur tells them to surrender Gabbar to him, alive, for an additional INR 20,000 reward.
The two thieves thwart the dacoits sent by Gabbar to extort the villagers. Soon afterwards, Gabbar and his goons attack Ramgarh during the festival of Holi. In a tough battle, Veeru and Jai are cornered. Thakur, although he has a gun within his reach, does not help them. Veeru and Jai fight back and the bandits flee. The two are, however, upset at Thakur's inaction, and consider leaving the village. Thakur explains that Gabbar had killed nearly all of his family members, and cut off both his arms a few years earlier, which is why he could not use the gun. He had concealed the dismemberment by always wearing a shawl.
Living in Ramgarh, the jovial Veeru and cynical Jai find themselves growing fond of the villagers. Veeru is attracted to Basanti (Hema Malini), a feisty, talkative young woman who makes her living by driving a horse-cart. Jai is drawn to Radha (Jaya Bhaduri), Thakur's reclusive, widowed daughter-in-law, who subtly returns his affections.
Skirmishes between Gabbar's gang and Jai-Veeru finally result in the capture of Veeru and Basanti by the dacoits. Jai attacks the gang, and the three are able to flee Gabbar's hideout with dacoits in pursuit. Fighting from behind a rock, Jai and Veeru nearly run out of ammunition. Veeru, unaware that Jai was wounded in the gunfight, is forced to leave for more ammunition. Meanwhile, Jai, who is continuing the gunfight singlehandedly, decides to sacrifice himself by using his last bullet to ignite dynamite sticks on a bridge from close range.
Veeru returns, and Jai dies in his arms. Enraged, Veeru attacks Gabbar's den and catches the dacoit. Veeru nearly beats Gabbar to death when Thakur appears and reminds Veeru of the promise to hand over Gabbar alive. Thakur uses his spike-soled shoes to severely injure Gabbar and destroy his hands. The police then arrive and arrest Gabbar. After Jai's funeral, Veeru leaves Ramgarh and finds Basanti waiting for him on the train. Radha is left alone again.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Before Crichton's book was even published, studios such as Warner Bros., Columbia TriStar, 20th Century Fox, and Universal had already begun bidding to acquire the picture rights. Spielberg, with the backing of Universal Studios, acquired the rights to the novel before its publication in 1990, and Crichton himself was hired by Universal Studios for an additional US$500,000 to adapt the novel into a proper screenplay. David Koepp wrote the final draft, which left out much of the novel's exposition and violence, and made numerous changes to the characters.
When an incident results in the death of an employee, Jurassic Park owner John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) brings in three specialists to sign off on the park to calm investors. The specialists, paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill), paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), are surprised to see the island park's main attraction are living, breathing dinosaurs, created with a mixture of fossilized DNA and genetic cross-breeding/cloning. However, when lead programmer Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) shuts down the park's power to sneak out with samples of the dinosaur embryos to sell to a corporate rival, the dinosaurs break free, and the survivors are forced to find a way to turn the power back on and make it out alive. The film also stars Bob PeckMartin FerreroAriana RichardsJoseph Mazzello, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Jurassic Park is regarded as a landmark in the use of computer-generated imagery, and received positive reviews from critics, who praised the effects, though reactions to other elements of the picture, such as character development, were mixed. During its release, the film grossed more than $914 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released up to that time (surpassing E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and surpassed 4 years later byTitanic), and it is currently the 15th highest grossing feature film (taking inflation into account, it is the 20th-highest-grossing film in North America). It is the most financially successful film for NBCUniversal and Steven Spielberg.
Jurassic Park was converted into 3D and it was re-released on April 5, 2013 for its 20th Anniversary.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

After the success of the first 1993 film, fans and critics alike pressured Crichton for a sequel novel. Having never done one before, Crichton originally declined, but when Steven Spielberg finally started pressuring Crichton, a sequel novel was announced. As soon as the novel was published, a film was in pre-production, with a target release date of mid-1997. The film was a commercial success, breaking many box-office records when released. The film had mixed reviews, similar to its predecessor in terms of characterization. Much like the first film, The Lost World made a number of changes to the plot and characters from the book, replacing the corporate rivals with an internal power struggle and changing the roles/characterizations of several protagonists.
When a vacationing family stumbles upon the dinosaurs of Isla Sorna, a secondary island where the animals were bred in mass and allowed to grow before being transported to the park, Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is called in by John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) to lead a team to document the island to turn it into a preserve, where the animals can roam free without interference from the outside world. Malcolm agrees to go when he discovers his girlfriend, paleontologist Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) is already on the island, while at the same time Hammond's nephew Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard) has taken over his uncle's company and leads a team of hunters to capture the creatures and bring them back to a theme park in San Diego. The two groups clash and are ultimately forced to work together to evade the predatory creatures and survive the second island. The film also stars Pete PostlethwaiteRichard SchiffVince VaughnVanessa Lee ChesterPeter Stormare, and a young Camilla Belle.

Jurassic Park III (2001)

Joe Johnston had been interested in directing the sequel to Jurassic Park and approached his friend Steven Spielberg about the project. While Spielberg wanted to direct the first sequel, he agreed that if there was ever a third film, Johnston could direct. Spielberg, nevertheless, stayed involved in this film by becoming its executive producer. Production began on August 30, 2000 with filming in California, Oahu, and Molokai. It is the first Jurassic Park film not to be based on a novel. The film was a success and had mixed reviews from critics. Most were split on whether the third installment was better or worse than its predecessor. The film once again suffered reviews mentioning little to no characterization.
When their son goes missing while parasailing at Isla Sorna, the Kirbys (William H. Macy & Téa Leoni) hire Alan Grant (Sam Neill) under false pretenses to help them navigate the island. Believing it to be nothing more than sight-seeing, and that he will act as a dinosaur guide from the safety of their plane, he's startled to find them landing on the ground, where they are stalked by a super-predator, the Spinosaurus, which destroys their plane. As they search for the Kirbys' son, the situation grows dire as Velociraptors (more intelligent than ever) hunt their group, and they must find a way off the island. The film also stars Alessandro NivolaMichael JeterTrevor MorganMark Harelik, and Laura Dern.
